The Society can trace its roots back to 1892, when the first “Heswall Flower Show” was held on Saturday 27
August, in a
marquee in a convenient field lent by Mr. Brocklebank, who also supplied the tent.
Since then the Society has withstood the strains and vagaries of two world wars and all the various developments within
the area. Much has changed in the intervening years, but the Society’s aims – “to share knowledge, promote competitive
shows and encourage horticultural excellence,” hold true to the present day. We try to keep abreast of the latest
horticultural trends and developments, by the choice and variety of our monthly speakers, and our visits to varied gardens
on our organized trips.
The Society is run by a Committee drawn from and elected by its members, and is well known for its friendly and sociable
